Methodology & Process



The researchers conducted the survey in a period of two (2) months. The following activities were performed:
  1. Inventory of existing assessments and certifications in the sectors of information technology and business process outsourcing via web search and interviews with key officers of certifying organizations.


  2. Interviews with IT professionals availing of these certifications and representatives of IT industry groups on the credibility and level of acceptance of these certifications.


  3. Mapping of careers in the IT/BPO industry focusing on the following sectors via web search with confirmation/validation of certifying organizations:


    • Animation
    • Contact Centers
    • Software Development
    • Medical Transcription
    • Engineering and Design
    • Business Process Outsourcing

  4. Mapping of certification according to levels of competencies and skills defined by the certifying organizations. These definitions varied among the certifying organizations.

No attempt was made to map the equivalence of each of the skills or competencies defined by the different certifying organizations.
