Linux, an alternative to Microsoft

Sun Microsystems is set to unveil its new strategy to expand use of the open source platform. A move to Linux is gaining support among price conscious users as well as organizations sensitive to security issues. Microsoft has recently change its pricing model for corporate and government accounts to a subscription model, a move seen to be vulnerable to cost sensitive markets such as large call centers, retail banking, government and education institutions.

The Microsoft operating system is likewise seen to be lacking in security safeguards. IBM, also, supports the move by strengthening marketing of hardware with Linux operating system - helping validate Linux in the corporate world.
